Not having the best of days, Cristiano Ronaldo was the target of intense boos during his UEFA Champions League football match at Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb on Wednesday (September 14).
The 26-year-old spoke out after his Real Madrid squads 1-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in season opener - saying that the negative treatment stems from jealousy.
"People talk of fair-play, of protecting good players, but I never get any of that, I don't understand a thing," Ronaldo started.
The Portugese winger continued,"I'm sad because I hear referees saying they will protect skillful players, but while some are untouchable it seems I can be mauled."
"I think that because I am rich, handsome and a great player people are envious of me. I don't have any other explanation," Cristiano added.
