Add playback hotkeys to Amazon Cloud Player with a Chrome extension

Sure, Amazon's Cloud Player works -- as long as you're in the U.S. or willing to do some tinkering -- but it's fairly simplistic at the moment. There are plenty of features missing which we'd like to see added -- but since Cloud Player is a Web app we don't have to wait for Amazon!

Google Chrome users, for example, can add playback hotkeys with an extension called keyMazony. Once installed, you'll have keyboard control of your Amazon Cloud Player queue. keyMazony commands will work as long as you're in the same Chrome window as Cloud Player, even if its tab doesn't have focus. The key combinations are customizable as well -- just make sure you don't set up a combo that conflicts with another extension or Chrome's built-in keyboard shortcuts.

Carwin goes with slim look for dos Santos

It had to kill Shane Carwin to watch Cain Velasquez dismantle Brock Lesnar and take the UFC title. Had it not been for stamina issues, the probably should've been Carwin back at UFC 116.

The big man has been gone for a while recovery from back surgery and he's returned with a new look. His face and body are noticeably slimmer. The video above shows off Carwin's new diet with his nutritionist. It's interesting to hear that protein was cut out of the former 285 pounder's diet and stuff like recovery pudding was added.

"People are going to be surprised when they see Shane," Carwin's Brendan Schaub training partner told ESPNRadio1100's "The MMA Insiders" show. "It's the best I've seen him. He's putting things together. His cardio's great and he's more explosive and stronger than ever."

It seems like all the nonsense about the need for another division between 205 and 265 is going by the wayside. Many of the elite heavyweights are fine between 230 and 245 pounds.

In LinkedIn IPO, Hints Of Another Tech Bubble?

The social networking site sold shares to the public last week and reached a market value of nearly $9 billion. The last time the market showed that kind of enthusiasm was more than a decade ago, when investors poured big money into almost any new business plan with a dot-com in its name.

TripAdvisor app for Windows Phone 7 now available

tripadvisor windows phone 7TripAdvisor, the popular travel planning tool, has just launched an app for Windows Phone 7. Just like the mobile website, the app allows you to search for anything travel-related -- from hotels and flights to restaurants and points-of-interest to visit once you reach your destination.

Geolocation is supported, which allows TripAdvisor to quickly locate places nearby. But while that's a neat feature, it's also a bit of a downer -- because, really, it's about the only feature TripAdvisor for WP7 brings to the table that its mobile Web app doesn't already offer (its browser-based geolocation doesn't work with WP7 at the moment).

While it's nice to see Windows Phone 7 users getting some big-name apps, it'd be even nicer if we saw some packing a bit more swagger.

Still, TripAdvisor for WP7 might just be worth installing on your device if you're frequently on the go -- at least until a better browser arrives with the Mango update.

Twitter Getting Photos In Order Ahead Of iOS 5 Integration

Yesterday, we first reported that Twitter was on the verge of launching their own photo-sharing service. That report has since been confirmed by Liz Gannes, who happens to work for All Things D, which is hosting a conference where Twitter CEO Dick Costolo was planning to announce this news. So, yeah. "Sources familiar with the matter." Confirmed. And now we know a bit more. First of all, this move is a direct assault on services like TwitPic and yFrog. With Twitter Pictures, you'll be able to upload from Twitter.com and the clients and you'll get a nice, tidy URL that links to your picture (and a small thumbnail may now appear in your stream). We've heard that this might use the twimg.com URL that Twitter has used internally for a long time, but that's not certain yet.

Eutelsat's Ka-Sat satellite goes into service, provides broadband to 13 million homes across Europe

Europe's already extensive broadband coverage may be expanding even further, now that Eutelsat's Ka-Sat satellite has officially gone into service. The new craft, which launched from Kazakhstan in late December, uses spotbeam technology to generate areas of connectivity that are about 250 kilometers wide, with each beam carrying a total capacity of 900Mbps. Unlike the Hylas 1, its reach will extend far across the continent, providing Tooway's high-bandwidth services to 13 million households in remote locations. Subscribers will have download speeds of up to 10Mbps and upload rates of 4Mbps, though they'll still have to put up with latency on the order of 250ms, making life even more difficult for Eastern European OnLive gamers. Of course, this access won't come for free, but Ka-Sat's 82-beam network structure significantly lowers its operating costs, allowing Eutelsat to offer prices that are on par with market rates. According to company CEO Michel de Rosen, customers should expect to pay around €30 for basic service, in addition to €250 they'd have to spend on a 77cm satellite dish. That's not necessarily a small amount of cash for low-income families to fork over, but at least they'll have an option that didn't exist before. Head past the break for a video about Tooway's Ka-Sat services, along with a full PR.
